music of your roots.
good soul food.
and you ue? what has “shaped” you?! which soul food ingredients?! and the little ones??
I grew with jazz and continue to nurture a passion for that style of music. Actually, I only listen to jazz! What does that tell you about me?
…that Jazz has maybe “shaped” you to be fond of certain moments, particular moments, a very special scenery and will always be there somewhere whenever you hear, listen a certain type of Jazz…
in my mind i see a man with a trim beard drinking whisky and smoking from a pipe while reading in a big armchair listening to Jazz late at night.
i love Jazz it makes me remember something i haven’t lived.
… even if we wandered around a little our roots remain in a way, some use comfort food some comfort music, i can’t help but sinking into being a little girl dancing when i hear the “rolling stones” and want to cry with “crosby stills nash and young”, like a warm late summer evening all the windows of the house open papa’s building something somewhere, maman’s cutting a pasteque sitting on the floor outside, little sister running after big sister with a plate full of worms, and me wondering if the guy singing had a beard? (in my mind those guys had to have a long beard!) to this day i love guys with beards and long hair. not to mention the platforms, high waist…etc…
Do you think Jazz has “shaped” you in any way? (well everything we grew up with had but how?)
I have a little one now and she already has her songs, she loves the “twirly song” from devendra banhart because since she’s very little i take her and turn around…
